HErcules

both of us worked on the Hercules film at Milk-vfx, Creating multiple assets, from a snake to a bone whip, and one very large environment! Athens.

BUILDING ATHENS

The two of us had worked together for the first time (professionally) along with Sam Lucas (Head of Modeling) and Nicolas Hernandez (VFX Supervisor) to bring Athens to life. We studied the details of higher and lower class builds across the whole of Athens to match the background to foreground for realism in this Greek mythology tale.

Athens was not our only contribution to Hercules. We also modeled the bonewhip that finally brought Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson down!

And if that wasn’t enough, we also modeled the green boa constrictors that failed to kill baby Hercules.

Modeling the boa constrictors

A unique aspect of this lovely reptile is its talent to detach and separate its jaw bone, allowing its mouth to stretch around prey. For this reason we created the detached jaw shape as the default mesh, as it was the only way to avoid stretching of the model and texture.
